Great Canadian Yoga Stretch

My Yoga Online is proud to be supporting the 2010 Great Canadian Yoga Stretch.  An initiative of CNIB , the Yoga Stretch is all about getting healthy, getting active and making a difference for Canadians who are blind or partially sighted.  Each donor offering support to this event will receive a free membership from My Yoga Online.

Whether you're sighted or living with vision loss, whether you're a seasoned yogi or a complete newbie, whether you're young in years or just young at heart – you can enjoy with the Great Canadian Yoga Stretch.

Where the Money Goes?

Funds raised in the Great Canadian Yoga Stretch will go to CNIB, helping Canadians with vision loss to enhance their independence, achieve their goals and lead fulfilling lives.  Today, there are 836,000 people in Canada living with significant vision loss. In the next 25 years, that number is expected to double.  CNIB's goal is to be able to help every last one of those Canadians by ensuring they have the confidence, skills and opportunities to fully participate in life.

Spiritually inspired, Globally-tinged Folk and Americana music

Spiritually inspired, Globally-tinged Folk and Americana music is what you’ll find on “Love Is The Best,” Dada’s second album overall. He seamlessly melds the rhythms of rock, country and Americana folk with the ancient wisdom of Yoga, bringing together such disparate strains to create a remarkable, [...] yoga therapy; Self Improvement;

Moving (back) to Philly

My partner and I are moving to Philadelphia this summer. We’ll be there for a year. This will actually be my second time living in Philly–I did my undergrad at Penn–but I moved away in 2000 I’m sure a lot of things have changed since then. One thing I hear is that Philly now has a very good yoga [...] yoga therapy; Self Improvement;

The Six Poisons (Quote of the day)

The six poisons: A vital aspect of internal purification that Pattabhi Jois teaches relates to the six poisons that surround the spiritual heart. In the yoga shastra it is said that God dwells in our heart in the form of light, but this light is covered by six poisons; kama, krodha, moha, lobha, matsarya, and mada. These are desire, anger, delusion, greed, envy and sloth. When yoga practice is sustained with great diligence and dedication over a long period of time, the heat generated from it burns away these poisons, and the light of our inner nature shines forth.

This forms the practical and philosophic basis of Ashtanga Yoga as taught by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois.

Unusual Merging of East and West (a review of my CD Love is the Best)

Dada Veda’s second album, Love Is the Best, is a most unexpected offering. Its eleven songs reflect Dada Veda’s message of self awareness, peace, and love. Finding that on an album by a trained yoga monk is not at all surprising. Dada Veda is a member of Ananda Marga, a global spiritual and social [...] yoga therapy; Self Improvement;
